Wisdom Flowing

Wisdom Flowing is the second drawing I sketched on plywood. I am facinated by this material because of its ability to absorb the pigments of the color pencils. Layering colors seems to take on a richer saturation. Application is never hindered and I don’t have to worry about crinkling the edges, it’s plenty durable.

I started this drawing as a demonstration piece for a client that I work with. The main purpose was to show how fine art materials (color pencils) can be used with scrap materials to form an interesting composition.

Like a thanksgiving turkey waiting for the dissection from its host, so too does the girl wait for the corruption of her soul. Both bodies lie silently for the coming of the blade that releases the stuffing within.

I believe that it is always important for an artist to work on process drawings. These drawings maybe inspiration later for another piece of artwork or may stand alone as dog-eared pages in a journal.
