Earth Totem - Art Doll

This was such an exciting project for me! I haven’t presented a doll since the beginning of my journey onto the web and here now is my latest accomplishment, a brand new art doll.
Earth Totem is my first attempt at using found objects and an unfamiliar material. The experience was enlightening. The ability to problem solve is a great measure of a person’s abilities and this is my “A+” for the semester.
It was made with Paper Clay, a medium that I have never worked with until now. There is so much that I could say about the qualities of this material, but I am not an advertiser so I will simply note that paper clay is a wonderful product.

This art doll is beautiful!
I am extremely impressed, and while I’ve always liked your ceramics pieces I think the face of this doll came out wonderfully with the paper clay. It really does feel amazing and lends a great surface finish to the final piece after sanding.
She reminds me of an Earth goddess, as portrayed by a mini Judi Dench
